| I
have written or created something - can I copyright it ? |
| In theory and in the eyes
of the law once you produce something original then you own
copyright to it which should prevent anyone duplicating it without
your permission or coming to an agreement with you. In practice
however, proving you produced the work and when you produced it can be subject to dispute.
This is where we come in, providing independent proof by date
stamping your work and being able to verify when it was registered with
us. You must understand, the fact you send us something does NOT mean
we can prove you created the work, just when you registered it -
giving a date and time stamp to the work should a dispute arise. |
| Can
I copyright a Band name ? |
| This is difficult to do
without extensive checking that no-one in the world is using the
same name (spelling etc...). If a band can prove they have been
using a name for years without any disputed claims to the name then
this may not stop them using it in the future even if they are not
famous. Perhaps the most public illustration of this is the band
LibertyX who had to add the letter X to the end of their name when
another band called Liberty threatened legal action. |
| Can
I email updates to you ? |
| Yes - once you have an
account established you can add to your allowed quota without any additional
charge. Our "inbox" can handle full cds' worth of data and
if you need to send us information in larger amounts let us know and
we can provide alternatives. Should you require other services such as ftp upload
etc. please contact us so it can be arranged. |
| Why
does the "end date" always run out on the fifth anniversary
of the account start date. |
| This is simply for
administration purposes and to allow updates. We provide a fixed
quota for a fixed charge and fixed period. If you require more
flexible solutions such as unlimited uploads or monthly fee payment
then let us know and we will accommodate. You can imagine if
we did not enforce this and allowed 5 years from date of receipt,
then the active period would never end. |
| Can
I register on behalf of someone else |
| Yes you can, and yes
people do - just fill out the form indicating if the registration is
to be made in the name of a specific individual or to a company. If
we cannot determine exactly what you want we will contact
you. |
